I am planning to have a long single gate, but I am concerned about the gate dropping. Should I install a wheel on the end of the gate?

No, a wheel should not be installed on the end of a long swing gate.

For a long swing gates that is to be automated, it is important to have the minimum number of obstructions. A wheel on the end of the gate will eventually cause an obstruction usually because a stone or similar has caught under the wheel. When this happens the Gate Automation Controller will see that as an obstruction and stop, then depending on the Controller Logics, and whether the gate was opening or closing, will depend on the next action the Automation Controller will undertake.

The golden rule is; with a well designed swing gate and an appropriately suitable gate post, the gate will not drop after it has settled, thereby the need for a wheel on the end of the gate is unnecessary.
